2017 Summer Camp Guide

If you’re searching for kids summer camps in Lakeland and Polk County, you’ve hit the jackpot! Below you’ll find the ULTIMATE list of summer camp options in Lakeland, Bartow, Winter Haven, and across Polk County, as well as some popular overnight camps not too far away. Many of these camps fill up, so if you see one you like, be sure to register as soon as possible. Summer will be here before you know it!

Central Florida Athletics

To assist working parents during those days school is not in session our Lakeland Summer Camp program provides day care for our Athletes as well as other, non Gym member families, who desire a wholesome family environment for their children ages 5-12. Lakeland Campers are sure to have Tons of Fun!  We offer a variety of indoor and outdoor games including volleyball, tetherball, soccer, basketball, kickball and more! We also offer cheerleading, gymnastics, tumbling, arts and crafts, dance, swimming, movies, field trips, water slide days and more. We will keep your child smiling all summer long!!

Ages: 5-12
Dates: June 5, 2017 through August 11, 2017 – weekly sessions all summer
Hours: Monday-Friday – 6:45am-6:00pm  /  Half-day morning – 7:00am-12:00pm  /  Half-day afternoon – 1:00pm-6:00pm
Price: $95 per week for full day  /  $65 per week for half day  /  $25 full day daily rate
Register for half day, full day, or the entire week. Register and pay for all 10 weeks in advance by May 1, 2017, at a discounted rate of $890 (Save $60)
Included in your weekly tuition is: Two snacks each day and pizza lunch on Mondays. There will be additional field trips scheduled and those will be at an additional cost. They will be announced at a later date.

Highland Park Church Super Awesome Summer – Vacation Bible School

Vacation Bible School (VBS) is a fun, faith filled night where the kids participate in a high energy kid’s worship service, have a blast during recreation time, and dig into God’s Word in small groups. The week ends with an awesome Family Experience. This is where the whole family experiences VBS together!

Highland Park Church Super Awesome Summer – Sports Camps

At HP Sports, Multi-Sport camp weeks, campers get to choose each day which sport they want to focus on. Monday thru Thursday are workout days that focus on the fundamentals of the different sports. Friday is always water day and campers get to enjoy bounce houses, inflatable water slides, slip-n-slides, water balloons, snow cones, dunk tank, and team relay races with water.

Polk Museum of Art Summer Art Camp

Polk Museum of Art Summer Camp LakelandJoin us for Summer Art Camp! Give your child (ages 7-13) a FUN, CREATIVE and OPEN atmosphere to develop their love and appreciation for the arts. Camp classes offer the freedom to explore artistic interests through creativity, medium, technique, interpretation and reflection.

All classes are taught by Certified Art Teachers and/or Art Professionals and undergo a background check as required in the Jessica Lunsford Act.

Dabble in artistic practices within the family of decorative arts: pottery, metal work, weaving, paper, etc.

Create and design your own one-of-a-kind 100% legit skateboard deck. (+ $20 material fee)

Learn the technique and knowledge for painting in digital media by use of an iPad.

Learn to capture and manipulate your own stunning photos using an iPad (iPad provided by the Museum).

Explore one of the major forms of expression through a variety of drawing mediums; pencil, marker, pastel, charcoal, etc.

Learn to hand design images for integration in media such as posters, flyers, magazines, books, etc.

Create you own jewelry: clay, glass fusing, beading, wire wrapping, etc.

Create art where more than one medium is being used. Learn to create by combining traditional and non-traditional media.

Explore one of the major forms of expression through a variety of paint mediums; tempera, watercolor, acrylic, etc.

Work as a team to create a play, to dress the part and perform in front of family and friends.

Explore the process of making artwork by printing. Use of a variety of printing techniques; relief print, mono-print, stencil, screen print, etc.

Learn to create three dimensional artwork out of clay, papier-mâché, found objects, plaster, etc.

Explore character performance using 2D, 3D and stop motion methods of production to create your own short film with an iPad.

Explore the history, meaning, mediums and processes used in constructing artwork outside traditional art venues: Painting, stencil, poster art, sticker art, street installation, yarn bombing, etc.

The City of Winter Haven and the Polk Museum of Art are partnering to bring Summer Art Camp closer to YOU! Join us for a two-week session exploring the arts at this satellite location. Students ages 7-13 will enjoy FUN classes in Drawing/Painting, Sculpture and Printmaking in Winter Haven.

Engineering For Kids® Camps are designed to supplement and enrich student’s existing curriculum. Our camps last three days to one week with three hour sessions per day. Morning and afternoon session focus on different engineering fields. Students may enroll for both morning and afternoon camps. Students enrolling in both morning and afternoon session are welcome to stay for adult supervised lunch at no additional cost: however, we do not provide lunch.

Camp BLAST is the City of Lakeland’s highly successful summer recreation program for kids. Camp BLAST offers children endless opportunities for enrichment including weekly trips, onsite games and activities. The Camp is based at 5 school campuses throughout Lakeland.

Bricks 4 Kidz Summer of STEM

Summer time fun doesn’t have to mean summer learning loss. Winston Academy of Engineering and Bricks 4 Kidz® present the first annual 2017 SUMMER OF STEM! This unique summer camp will keep your child thinking, building, innovating, creating, and learning all summer long. In addition to Bricks 4 Kidz® educational and interactive models, we will use high-quality learning resources, including Archery, Board Games, Chess, 3D Printing and Science Experiments for a STEM-full summer.

Our camp encourages imagination and innovation! The campers will have a chance to channel their inner creativity, interests and expressions. They will have the opportunity to work together, learn team building skills, get creative and solve problems while having fun learning STEM concepts based on the theme of the day or week.

 

Camp will run for 6 weeks beginning June 12th and lasting to July 21st. Week by week registration available.

• Camp will be held at the WINSTON ACADEMY OF ENGINEERING in Lakeland.

Young Dancers Workshop
Ages 4-7 • July 10-July 14 • 9:00 am-12:00 pm (Early drop off and late pick-up available)
This workshop is for beginning to intermediate level dancers looking to explore dance. Classes offered include ballet, tap, and jazz as well as many fun dance activities! All dancers will received a 2017 Summer Workshop T-Shirt and participate in an end of workshop performance!

Edge Theatre Musical Theatre Workshop
Ages 7 and up • July 17-July 21 • 1:00 pm-5:00 pm
This theatre workshop is for beginning to intermediate performers looking to develop their acting and movement skills. No prior stage experience required.
Level I Ages 7-12
Level II Ages 13-18
Both levels will explore audition techniques, develop their acting skills through improvisation games and scenework, and expand their physical acting skills through movement and musical theatre dance technique. Each class will prepare scenes and a musical theatre dance number over the course of the week.

WonderHere Summer Camp.jpgJoin us for a spectacular summer experience! Each week of camp is uniquely designed to keep your child learning in a way that’s so fun, they don’t even realize it! Your child will get to participate in themed learning activities, free play time, friendly team competitions, high-interest clubs, end-of-the-week share and show time, and so much more! Themes include music, theatre, business, cooking, STEM, coding and gaming, and more.

• There are two camps running simultaneously each week, one for students ages 5-7 and the other for students ages 8-12.
• Each camp is capped at 15 students.
• Camps may include a fun, local walking field trip at an additional cost. More information and permission slips will be provided at the beginning of the camp week.
• An early drop-off option (7:00-7:30 am) is provided at an additional cost of $10 a week. A late pick-up option (4:00-5:00 pm) is provided at an additional cost of $10 a week.
• Students are required to bring a nut-free lunch every day.
• Register before the end of March and save $10 per camp!

Camp READY! – Learning Resource Center

Camp Ready Learning Resource CenterThis successful summer program prepares rising and repeating kindergartners for academic success. Through hands-on, experiential learning centers, students experience learning that is FUN! With art, music and movement, cooking, and reading readiness centers, Camp READY! builds pre-reading skills while also providing a safety net to allow children more time to continue motor, social and cognitive development. On average, LRC’s Camp READY! students demonstrate growth of seven months from pre- to post-assessment.

Program Goals: To build pre-reading and kindergarten readiness skills through experiential learning centers which include art, music and movement, cooking, and reading readiness

What: Awareness: 47 sounds; Vocabulary: Receptive and Expressive; Participation: Cooperative Learning Groups; Reinforcement: Following Directions

How: Highly-qualified teachers will lead the exciting parade of themed rich language-laden lessons with movement and music, color and art, taste and cooking, providing learning opportunities for parent involvement at camp and at home.

HOLA! Splash into Spanish this Summer! Join us in a fun way to learn a language!
The Summer Camp offers three hours of Spanish Class along with activities that combine games and fun inside and outside. The camp is focused on fun conversational skills, using an innovative, out of the box method. Classes are focused on oral skills, both listening, speaking, and reading in Spanish, and the integration of a multitude of fun loving cultural and social activities.
Every week classes will be focus on a different theme and will have a project tied to it for a hands-on activity. The activities will be inter-related across all weeks of the summer camp for those interested in registering for more than one week of the summer program, but will stand alone for those interested in only one week.

Inspire with STEM Summer Camp – Lakeland Institute for Learning

Join us for a fun way to become inspired! This Summer Camp capitalizes on inspiring science technology, engineering and math in an integrated, hands on method.
