Explorations V Children’s Museum provides 3 floors of kid-powered, hands-on exhibits and mind-stretching programs in the arts and sciences to celebrate the five senses! Art and Science are the pathways for many learning concepts, freeing the child’s creativity and unleashing the power of play. The Museum was founded on the premise that children, like adults, use all five senses to explore and learn about the world around them, hence the V in our name.
The Second Floor includes a small children’s art gallery, interactive science components and brain-teasers as well as Temporary Exhibits located in the Dreamer’s Gallery.
The First Floor features Our Town including exhibits that offer action-packed opportunities for learning through the basics of music appreciation, art, theatre, math, science and history. The new Tot Spot is an engaging area designed especially for our youngest visitors.
The Lower Floor introduces children to local history and Our World through
O is for Oranges, from seed to Our World. Pick, pack, sort and slide in this
fanciful Florida orange grove that takes visitors on a journey of discovery to Asia, Africa, Australia and America.
Our newest exhibit gallery, the TOT SPOT is now open!

ABOUT SKATE WORLD:
Skate World is owned and operated by Chanel Bellotto, who is a 3rd generation skating rink operator. Her grandfather opened the 1st skating rink in Lakeland near the hospital in the early 70’s and her dad bought the rink from him in 1977, at its current location. Chanel took over in May of 2007, when her dad unexpectedly passed away from cancer. Chanel didn’t intend to keep the skating rink, but after running it for a few short months, she realized the opportunity she had to impact the lives of many children. She has spent the last several years renovating and remodeling to make the facility fun, safe and clean. Her latest and biggest improvement was installing the F.A.S.T. (Flat, Durable, Versatile, Jointless) floor system, which is the latest in skating floor technology. In addition, a VIP party room was created, new carpet and paint, lights and sound system, new skates and equipment.
The reason Skate World is open today and has survived 4 decades of transition, economic crises, and generations of families is because of customer service! Adonis (Chanel’s dad) was a man known for his generosity, kindness, patience, charisma and charm. He had fun with the kids at the birthday parties (you better watch out, if you were one of his repeat customers, you more than likely would end up with a little bit of cake smeared on your face!) or you might be embarrassed at how loud Happy Birthday could be sung! Adonis always had a bounce to his step and you would never know if he was having a bad day. He always had a smile on his face and he was known as a big brother and to many a 2nd dad. He had a heart of gold and deeply cared for each child that walked through the doors. Chanel continues to follow in his footsteps and continue his legacy and cannot emphasize enough importance on caring for these kids, showing and teaching them respect and providing a facility that is FUN, safe and clean!
Polk’s Nature Discovery Center sits on one of Polk County’s treasured Environmental Areas, Circle B Bar Reserve. The center not only offers outdoor educational opportunities, but chances to learn about our surrounding local environment in an indoor setting. We encourage you to stop in for an educational experience before you hit the trails, which will have you coming back for more.
