ABOUT SKATE WORLD:
Skate World is owned and operated by Chanel Bellotto, who is a 3rd generation skating rink operator. Her grandfather opened the 1st skating rink in Lakeland near the hospital in the early 70’s and her dad bought the rink from him in 1977, at its current location. Chanel took over in May of 2007, when her dad unexpectedly passed away from cancer. Chanel didn’t intend to keep the skating rink, but after running it for a few short months, she realized the opportunity she had to impact the lives of many children. She has spent the last several years renovating and remodeling to make the facility fun, safe and clean. Her latest and biggest improvement was installing the F.A.S.T. (Flat, Durable, Versatile, Jointless) floor system, which is the latest in skating floor technology. In addition, a VIP party room was created, new carpet and paint, lights and sound system, new skates and equipment.
The reason Skate World is open today and has survived 4 decades of transition, economic crises, and generations of families is because of customer service! Adonis (Chanel’s dad) was a man known for his generosity, kindness, patience, charisma and charm. He had fun with the kids at the birthday parties (you better watch out, if you were one of his repeat customers, you more than likely would end up with a little bit of cake smeared on your face!) or you might be embarrassed at how loud Happy Birthday could be sung! Adonis always had a bounce to his step and you would never know if he was having a bad day. He always had a smile on his face and he was known as a big brother and to many a 2nd dad. He had a heart of gold and deeply cared for each child that walked through the doors. Chanel continues to follow in his footsteps and continue his legacy and cannot emphasize enough importance on caring for these kids, showing and teaching them respect and providing a facility that is FUN, safe and clean!
