Face Masks are not required in Polk County Public Schools for 2021 – 2022 School Year

Face masks not required Polk County Schools

Are you wondering if face masks are required for Polk County Schools?

The answer is no, face masks will not be required in Polk County Schools for the 2021 – 2022 school year. At a board meeting on June 8, 2021, the Polk County School Board voted to end the requirement that students and staff wear face masks.

This decision was announced on the PCPS Website and Facebook Page. The decision is immediate – beginning June 9, 2021, face coverings are no longer required in PCPS schools, offices, or on buses.

Face masks will still be optional for students and staff members for the 2021-22 school year. Students who chose to wear a face covering must comply with general dress code and school uniform requirements. For more information on dress codes, check directly with your school or visit the Code of Conduct and look for Section 2.06.

This decision is only for Polk County Public Schools. Charter and private schools have their own mask requirements and their own dress code, check directly with your school for more information.
