School Showcase to Highlight School Options in Polk County

Polk County School Showcase WE3 Expo 2019

If you have a student in Polk County schools, are looking for more information on educational options in Polk County, or are even considering going back to school yourself, the Polk County School Showcase is the place to be the second weekend of November!

Formerly named the WE3 EXPO, the School Showcase is happening Thursday, Friday and Saturday – November 7, 8, & 9, 2019 – at the RP Funding Center.

The School Showcase features the wide variety of programs available to Polk County students of all ages, covering Pre-K through Adult Education.

What is included?

At the School Showcase you’ll find over 400 booths spotlighting the innovative careers, schools, and programs offered across Polk County. There will also be demonstrations highlighting the unique activities found in Polk County Public Schools. Booths include:

Why Attend?

The Polk County School District offers many educational programs beyond your traditional neighborhood school. Attending the School Showcase allows you to visit in-person with representatives from a variety of programs and different types of schools from across the county. Some examples include:

All Polk County Elementary Schools will be represented! Local magnet schools will have booths where you can learn more about their magnet focus (science, technology, arts, math, etc.) and learn how and when to apply.

Middle School

Many middle schools have pre-academies that provide students with real-world exposure to career specific curriculum through electives. Some of the pre-academies offered include Aerospace, Agriculture, Engineering, Robotics, Medical, Culinary, Web Design, Video Game Design, Video Production, Graphic Design. If you have a student entering middle school in fall of 2020 or fall of 2021, this would be a great opportunity to visit each school’s booth and learn more about what they offer and decide in advance whether to apply.

High School

High Schools in Polk County offer career academies for students that are small, personalized learning communities within a high school. Each academy focuses on a career theme that includes a college-prep curriculum and can lead to industry certification. If you have any interest in attending a specific academy, the School Showcase is a great opportunity to research and ask questions face to face instead of trying to do your research online, or contacting individual academies separately.

You can also learn more about AICE and International Baccalaureate schools, Advance Placement classes, Dual Enrollment, and other high school options ALL IN ONE DAY!

Visit for more information on academies.

If you’ve been considering going back to school, the School Showcase is a chance to learn more about local colleges and technical schools, ask questions, and learn what degrees and technical certifications are offered locally.

What if your child is already attending?

Many 5th and 8th students from across Polk County will be attending the event on Thursday and Friday with their schools. This allows them to get up close and personal with many exhibits and demonstrations, and then take the information home to their families. Even if your child is attending the School Showcase with their school on Thursday or Friday, you can always go back with them on Saturday to learn more about the programs that interest your child, ask questions, and pick up additional information.

This event is FREE and open to the public each day November 7 – 9, 2019. Parents are welcome to attend with or without a student any of those 3 days. Note that not all exhibitors will be in attendance on Thursday and Friday. Saturday is the most comprehensive exhibitor day.
