This spring, your family can experience one of the most beautiful yet tragic love stories of all time – Romeo and Juliet. Through young love, dramatic sword fights, and tragedy you will stay on the edge of your seat as you are swept away to the village of Verona. Set to the moving score by Sergei Prokofiev, this dramatic ballet will keep you enthralled to the very end.
This performance of Romeo and Juliet showcases the stunning ballet dancers of Russian Ballet Orlando, a premier ballet school in Central Florida. The school is directed by Ukrainian-born and raised Artistic Director Katerina Fedotova. Proceeds from all Romeo and Juliet performances will be donated to Ukrainian Relief.
TICKET GIVEAWAY: We get to surprise one Lakeland Mom reader with a 4 pack of tickets to enjoy the performance. Giveaway details are below. This article and all giveaways are sponsored by Russian Ballet Orlando.
About Russian Ballet Orlando + Ukraine Relief Efforts
Russian Ballet Orlando has been training ballet dancers in Central Florida since 2000 when it was founded by Ukrainian ballet dancers. The term “Russian Ballet” is a reference to the style of dance and classical ballet training method (the Vaganova ballet method founded in Russia in 1910) and they have no connection to the country.
The Artistic Director – Katerina Fedotova – is Ukrainian born and raised, and passionately supports her extended family, friends, and people in her home country. She has organized multiple fundraisers for Ukrainian Relief and will continue to host events to help provide basic supplies through the New Life Charity in Kyiv, Ukraine. You can learn more about these efforts on the RBO Website.
Russian Ballet Orlando performs 20-30 shows each year across Florida. They wowed local audiences in Lakeland in 2021 with three sold-out performances of The Nutcracker, as well as Cinderella, Swan Lake, and Esmeralda, and they are excited to bring Romeo and Juliet to our community.

More about Russian Ballet Orlando
Russian Ballet Orlando includes a Professional Ballet Company, a Pre-Professional Trainee Program, and a ballet academy for ages 3 and up. They train students in the “Vaganova” method, with many who go on to become professional dancers. Their ballet students have the opportunity to perform on stage throughout the year, providing real-world training experiences with a focus only on ballet and point.
Russian Ballet Orlando has a unique Polk County connection… in the fall of 1996, Vadim Fedotov, Principal Dancer of the National Theater of Ukraine, came to the US temporarily and accepted an offer to choreograph a 30 minute Nutcracker on Ice at Cypress Gardens in Winter Haven, Florida. He was offered a resident position with Orlando Ballet and went on to open Russian Ballet Orlando in 2000. His daughter, Katerina Fedotova, is now Artistic Director and President. It all started with The Nutcracker here in Polk County!
Visit the Russian Ballet Orlando website to learn more about their unique history or their dance programs.
