We are here to help you find summer camps for those hard to find age groups, including preschoolers and TEENAGERS! It seems there are plenty of camps for elementary age kids, but we’ve also tracked down local camps for the older age group in middle school and high school.

If you’re looking for a summer camp in the Lakeland or Winter Haven area for your son or daughter age 13 and older, this list is for you. There is no set theme for these camps, other than the ages they cover.

Don’t miss our full Summer Camp Guide and other summer camp articles:

**EDITOR’S NOTE – We will do our best to update the Summer Camp Guide through May and June with changes for Summer 2020. For the most up to date information click through to the camp’s website.**

Camp Gilead is a year-round Christian Camp and Retreat Center that has served central Florida since 1938! We exist to glorify God by creating an atmosphere for individuals to evaluate their relationship with Christ and be challenged to make decisions resulting in changed lives.

It is a safe place filled with opportunities to be challenged both physically and spiritually while making lifelong friends. In fact, many return year after year because they cannot bear the thought of a summer without being a part of the action at camp, seeing their friends, and being spiritually refreshed.

Each child’s health and safety are top concerns. All activities are under the direction of trained Christian staff who live in cabins with campers. Trained first-aid personnel and certified lifeguards are also on duty.

2020 Camp Updates

The Polk Museum of Art has made the difficult decision to cancel traditional in-person summer camp programming for Summer 2020.

Their creative team has developed alternative Summer 2020 programming of art-based activities and projects in the form of boxed kits to be enjoyed from the comfort of home.

Designed by Polk Museum educators, Art (Un)Boxed is a self-paced art program with a set of art kits based on the popular art classes for children and families normally held at the Museum during Summer and Spring breaks. Available by subscription or offered à la carte, Art (Un)Boxed kits include easy-to-follow instructions, prompts that foster creative thinking, all necessary art supplies, and special kit-specific video links featuring our favorite Museum instructors.

For an overview of the entire Art (Un)Boxed program and registration information, please click on the link below.
