Come enjoy a full day of family fun as we celebrate the beautiful parks, trails and streetscapes that make Lake Wales unique. Olmsted Day in the Park takes place on the shores of Lake Wailes and features music, games, food trucks, educational presentations and speakers, scores of vendors, Student Naturalist awards, and a chance to learn and share the amazing history and origins of our special place.
“Olmsted Day in the Park” will be held in Lake Wailes Park, part of a nationwide celebration in honor of the 200th anniversary of the birth of Frederick Law Olmsted, who designed many of America’s most famous parks, campuses, and cityscapes.
The festival is being hosted by the City of Lake Wales and Lake Wales Heritage, Inc., a not-for-profit group. Olmsted Day in the Park is their primary fund-raising and awareness event of the year, bringing together speakers, informational displays, and entertaining events to educate the public about the heritage that Lake Wales enjoys as a planned “Garden City.”
