Join us on April 7 from 6pm to 9pm for our next First Friday event: Dog Days Downtown! Bring your leashed and well-behaved pets, and enjoy Downtown Lakeland after dark. (FYI, Downtown Lakeland is moving the Dog Days theme to the Springtime permanently, instead of holding it in September, because the weather will better for our furry friends!)
-Meet local businesses and community groups, some of whom will have fun giveaways (like dog treats) in limited quantities.
-Watch various dog obedience and agility demonstrations–such as frisbee, tricks, and bite work–in Munn Park by John K9, LLC and his team.
-Let your dog try to maneuver his or her way through an amateur agility course (with coaching by John K9). Cost is $3 for 3 minutes of coaching on the course. Proceeds benefit ASA Service Dogs.
-Think your pet looks like you? Enter our Pet Lookalike contest for a chance to win a Downtown Gift Card.
-Dress your pets up in their fanciest duds, and join our small Pet Parade down Kentucky Ave. at 7pm. (Feel free to get creative, and dress up carts or create small cardboard floats.) Participants will receive $2 in Market Bucks to spend with the vendor of your choice at the Saturday Downtown Farmers Curb Market. (Limit first 100 participants.)
Downtown shops and restaurants will be open late. Don’t miss the Makers Market, featuring local artists and creators, on North Kentucky Avenue and the Classy Car Show on Main St. and Tennessee Ave. Streets are closed to vehicles, so come prepared to walk about!
First Friday is a family-friendly event held in the streets of Downtown Lakeland between Lemon Street and Oak Street along Kentucky and Tennessee Avenues. On-street parking begins to close in the event area at 3pm to allow us to clear the streets and set up the exhibitors and vendors. Parking in all permitted and metered locations is free after 5pm and all day on the weekends. Event parking is limited, so please carpool with friends and neighbors!
