Discover turn-of-the-century American ingenuity! How would a sewing machine, mail-order catalogs, or steam engines change your daily life in 1890? What would life be like for a child growing up in a Florida farming and ranching community over 100 years ago? Educators in historic dress will welcome guests to the 1885 Carlton House, Okahumpka Depot, Terry Store, School House, and more authentic structures. Students will learn some pioneer life-hacking skills, design their own inventions, complete an 1890s patent form, and decipher a Morse Code message. Each young learner will enjoy demonstrations of daily chores and skills.
