The Writers Block Party & Street Fair is a new event is coming to Downtown Bartow, on Saturday, May 20, presented by Bartow Con LLC and Main Street Bartow.
Writers’ Block Party & Street Fair is a free, family fun event that will benefit the Bartow Community Service Center. The street fair will run from 10 a.m.- 6 p.m. next to the Center at 495 East Summerlin St.
This Writers’ Block will feature more than 20 independent authors from all different styles of writing. There will also be food trucks, entertainment panel discussions, Coloring with a Klingon for the kids, Painting with a Friend, a panel discussion with Anthony Rizzo, “Dr. to the Mouse” (Disney), and a lot of surprises.
A costume contest for humans and a separate contest for pets will feature literary characters from any type of book including comic books.
All types of activities will be happening during the day including a Jane Austen Society panel, an authors’ roundtable, and even a Pet Tea Party.
In Writers’ Block roulette guest authors will add a paragraph to a short story which will be read aloud at 4:30. A schedule of the day’s events can be seen at the end of this newsletter.
Authors and artists from a variety of genres — from fiction to non-fiction, science fiction, self-help books, ghost stories, comic books, history — will be represented.
Some of the authors scheduled to attend are Lloyd Harris, S.L. Frisbie IV, Ashley Stricklin, Dawn Dimicco, William Hatfield, Jaime Magnetico-Walsh, Robert Robertson, Dr. Tony Rizzo and Lorna Keith.
Those attending the Writers’ Block Party are asked bring a non-perishable food item to donate to the Community Service Center food pantry to help those in need. Proceeds from vendor fees are being donated to the Center.
