Kids can skate FREE two times a week at Skate World in Lakeland when you sign up online for the Kids Skate Free program. This is a nationwide program that offers free roller skating passes at rinks across the US, including Skate World – our roller skating center here in Lakeland, Florida.
The program runs year-round making it perfect for family fun or free summer fun to stay active. It covers free admission for kids ages 12 & under. While in previous years there was a small fee to register, Kids Skate Free is now completely free to sign up!
How it works:
Step 1: Visit the KidsSkateFree.com website to learn more and sign up. Input your zip code to pull up the link to sign up for Skate World. (Or click here to go straight to the sign-up page)
Step 2: You’ll need to use the MyHownd App to access your passes.
- Sign Up using the email address that you used to register for Kids Skate Free
- Your first set of passes will be available in the MyHownd app by the Monday morning following sign up.
- Your passes will show up in the My Promos section and in your MyHownd Wallet. Visit Skate World (or your local skating rink) with your phone app to redeem your passes.
- You will receive 2 Kids Skate Free passes per child, per week. Passes are valid for one week. Passes will automatically expire and be replaced with two new valid passes every Monday.
Cost: Totally free to register!
Skate Rental: $3 extra, OR you can buy your own pair of skates from the skate shop at Skate World.
When you can use passes: Passes are valid at Skate World Lakeland during select skating sessions, including summer matinee skates (12pm – 4pm Mon – Fri), as well as any Polk County Public School Holidays when the rink is open from 12-4pm i.e. Labor Day, MLK day, Memorial Day, Presidents Day etc. The My Hownd App will also list upcoming hours when the passes can be used.

OTHER IMPORTANT DETAILS:
- Sign up in advance. (We are not 100% certain how the new app works – in the past passes were ONLY sent on Mondays, so if you signed up on a weekday, you did NOT have access to passes until the following week. We aren’t sure if this is still the case or if you can get immediate access to the passes).
- Cannot be combined with any other offer.
- Cannot be used for group rates, fundraisers or birthday parties.
- Passes are ONLY VALID at the skating rink where you sign up.
- Passes from other skating rinks will not be accepted at Skate World.
- You MUST sign up at KidsSkateFree.com – they are unable to process registrations at the skating rink.
