Summer Campers will engage in a variety of hands-on activities. Experienced aviation instructors and mentors will help campers dive deep into flight through experiential learning opportunities, hands-on demonstrations, and flight simulations. Destination Aviation allows campers to learn and engage in ALL aviation-related career fields. Campers will attend field trips to surrounding aviation industries, participate in a local exploration flight, and hear from guest speakers who are well-established within the aviation industry.

Summer Campers will participate in a week-long experience in flight and STEM! Our summer camp focuses on the science and engineering of aviation and careers in the aviation industry. Camps include in-depth explorations, hands-on builds and activities, science experiments, presentations, and much more!

She Can Fly Summer Camp is intended for girls interested in aviation. Summer Campers will experience a one-of-a-kind summer camp that will introduce them to the world of aviation. Campers will learn basic flight instructions in our Redbird Flight Simulation Lab, go on a thirty-minute discovery flight, and receive hands-on flight instruction with an FAA-certified flight instructor. Campers will explore aerodynamics while indoor skydiving and participate in daily design challenges. The campers will visit various airport businesses, meet with the Hurricane Hunters from NOAA’s Aircraft Operations Center, and speak with experts in the commercial airline industry. Campers will track their progress in their log book throughout the week, work in teams to solve real-world problems and connect with ACE and Florida air Museum staff and other female aviation professionals.

Take Flight Summer Camp is intended for those seriously interested in and considering pursuing their glider or private pilot’s license. Participating in ground school sessions, they will get to apply their instructional knowledge in our Redbird Flight Simulation Lab. Campers will be taken on field trips and tours to local flight schools and colleges with aviation degrees. They will engage in aviation workshops, learning how pilots calculate flight planning, aviation weather, and the basic systems of an airplane. Campers will also have the opportunity to fly in a general aviation aircraft with a certified FAA flight instructor and log their flight time in their log book. The ACE Scholarship Director will also share information about the flight scholarships available to them. Think of this summer camp as a shortened mini-ground school.

This Engineering Summer Camp provides a fun, engaging learning environment where campers design and create projects while discovering underlying engineering principles and processes. While campers work on their projects, they will investigate the design process while exploring aerospace engineering disciplines. Guest engineers will share exciting new research endeavors and their latest projects. Engineering simulations will allow campers to design and build with their teammates. Campers will also participate in daily engineering innovation challenges, competing against each other for daily prizes. Engineering is a 21st-century STEM skill that everyone should explore. Early exploration of engineering encourages young people to consider pursuing a career in engineering and view the world with a critical eye.
