Lakeland Gives Back… as we head towards ThanksGIVING and Christmas, we are highlighting local organizations making a difference in our community that need volunteers and/or donations at the holidays and year round. We hope you’ll learn more about these groups and decide to be part of LAKELAND GIVES BACK! Imagine the impact we can make locally if each of Lakeland Mom’s 7,800+ Facebook fans and 12,000+ monthly website visitors donate just a few extra items or a few hours of their time this holiday season.
About Florida Baptist Children’s Homes, The Porch Light & Orphan’s Heart
The mission of Florida Baptist Children’s Homes, The Porch Light and Orphan’s Heart is to provide Christ-centered services to children and families in need. We want to bring hope to hurting children, to show that the love of Jesus changes lives and to impact the life of One More Child.
From the opening of our first orphanage in 1904 to our present-day ministries that have expanded to provide safe, stable, Christian homes and services to children and families in need across the state and around the globe, we are honored to be helping children in tangible ways.
In 2016, we had the privilege of impacting a total of 171,273 children and individuals through our Christ-centered services. Also in 2016, we were able to provide 3 million meals to children and individuals in need. This year, we anticipate providing between 5-6 million meals!
Whether it’s providing clean diapers to a newborn baby, food for a hungry child, safety for an abused child, or foster or adoptive homes to children in crisis, we work to share with children who have been abused, neglected and abandoned the protective and healing love of Jesus.
Programs provided by Florida Baptist Children’s Homes include:
